TRS Panch Phoron is a classic blend of five whole spices: cumin, mustard seeds, fennel, nigella seeds and fenugreek. When fried in hot oil the seeds pop and release a warm, nutty and slightly sweet aroma that gives simple dishes plenty of flavour.

How to enjoy it:

  • Tadka: Fry a teaspoon in oil or ghee until the seeds pop and pour over dal.
  • Potatoes and vegetables: Fry with cauliflower, potatoes or aubergine.
  • Pickles and chutney: Gives pickles a complex flavour.
  • Bread: Sprinkle over naan or mix into the dough.
