PG Tips masala chai – how to make spiced milk tea at home

29/10, 2026 –

PG Tips is one of the most loved British teas and our best-selling tea pack. The full-bodied black tea brews a dark, robust and balanced cup – which is exactly why it makes the perfect base for masala chai, the spiced milk tea enjoyed all over South Asia. You need a strong tea so the flavour holds up against milk and spices.

Masala chai – basic recipe for 2 cups

  1. Bring the water to the boil with the spices and simmer for 2–3 minutes to release the aromas.
  2. Add the tea bags and let them steep for 2 minutes.
  3. Pour in the milk and simmer gently for another 2–3 minutes.
  4. Sweeten to taste, strain into cups and serve straight away.
