Dubai chocolate is a luxurious, indulgent chocolate bite filled with crispy kunafa and pistachio, striking a perfect balance between sweet and crunchy.
This recipe brings a lovely Middle Eastern twist and is ideal for chocolate lovers everywhere. Here’s an easy guide to making these delicious chocolate kunafa bites at home!
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 400 g kunafa pastry - Add to basket
- 3 milk chocolate bars - Add to basket
- 3 dark chocolate bars - Add to basket
- 3/4 cup pistachio cream - Add to basket
- 1/2 cup tahini Add to basket
Method
1. Toast the kunafa pastry:
Start by melting the butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Add the chopped kunafa pastry and toast until deep golden brown and crisp, taking care not to burn it. Once done, take it off the heat and leave to cool completely.
2. Melt the chocolate:
Put both the milk and dark chocolate in a large microwave-safe bowl. Melt in the microwave for 2 minutes, stirring halfway through. Stir again at the end for a smooth, even chocolate mixture.
3. Prepare the mould:
Pour a thin layer of melted chocolate into each cavity of a chocolate mould (a silicone praline or ice-cube mould works perfectly). Leave enough room in each cavity for the filling. Put the mould in the fridge for 10 minutes to let the chocolate set.
4. Mix the filling:
In a large bowl, combine the toasted kunafa, pistachio cream and tahini. Mix well so everything is evenly distributed and forms a creamy, crunchy filling.
5. Fill the mould:
Take the mould out of the fridge. Fill each cavity with a layer of the kunafa mixture and press down with a spoon to flatten. Then pour the remaining melted chocolate over the filling and spread it so each cavity is evenly covered.
6. Chill:
Put the mould in the fridge for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until the chocolate has set completely and is ready to turn out.
7. Serve and enjoy:
Carefully pop the chocolates out of the mould and keep them in the fridge until serving. Your luxurious chocolate kunafa bites are ready – perfect as a dessert or an elegant gift!
Tips:
- For an extra elegant finish, top each chocolate with chopped pistachios or a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
- Dubai chocolate with kunafa also makes a beautiful gift to bring when visiting – pack them in praline boxes or little bags.
Enjoy the unique combination of crispy kunafa and silky chocolate, with a lovely pistachio flavour that brings the Middle East to mind!
